Automobile Engineering

The Department of Automobile Engineering was started in the academic year 2012-13 with a sanctioned intake of 60. The department follows the syllabus as prescribed by the affiliating Anna University, and to supplement the syllabus, guest lectures and industrial visits are organized by the department.

We have regular interactions with major automotive giants like Hyundai Motors, Hindustan Motors, and Sundaram Clayton etc. The department in co-ordination with Motor Vehicle Inspector office provides necessary activities to obtain driving license for students and staff members.

Department Objective

The department aims at providing the students of Automobile Engineering with learning facilities comparable to world class standards for designing and manufacturing of automobiles, imparting knowledge to design vehicles with lesser pollution and better safety standards to meet the norms, and to expose them to the latest research, development and techniques so as to cater to the growing needs of the industries and to mould the students as good CITIZENS of our country.

Job Prospects
Automobile manufacturing industries such as TELCO, L & T, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Heldex India, Bajaj Auto and Gabrial employ automotive engineering graduates as Supplier Warranty Recovery Specialist, Underbody Engineer, Senior Production Engineer, Quality Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer and Driver Instrumentation Engineer.

Automotive engineer jobs need constant up gradation of skills to keep pace with technological advancements. Many of Automotive engineering graduates also join defense services of the country. Some even setup own business venture or take up traditional teaching profession.
