IIoT News
Centre of IIoT
The Center of Industry based Internet of Things is the initiative taken by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Arunai Engineering College, since August 2019, to let the school children understand and learn the new technologies, and enlighten themselves.
This is the initiative taken to fulfil our responsibilities for the development of the rural society and enlighten the children.
This Workshop is mainly based on the projects of IoT and MICROBIT. As per Anna University Curriculum doesn’t have IoT as a part, we used this opportunity to enlighten our students and school students as well.
Industrial oriented Internet of things laboratory was setup to enhance and enrich the students knowledge to meet industry needs. IoT improves the education system and brings lot of added value to the teaching environment and student learning.
Centre of IIoT SAGA
The students from various streams of our college, are gathered and encouraged to learn new technologies. One of such device taken into learning was, MICROBIT.
The students started to learn and research on various experiments, using this MICROBIT device.
This learning had reached out the initiative of enlightening the school students about these technologies in the form of workshop.
The trained engineering students taught the school students about various experiments on MICROBIT and other IoT technologies, in the form of workshop.
This had been the point of development for many school students and had enlightened them about the technologies that they are going to face in their near future.
Objective
The objective of this centre of IIoT is to impart knowledge in Internet of Things to all our students and to train them with the requirement of the nation to become technocrats as well as entrepreneurs in IoT technology. Periodically, renowned experts from industry and academia will be invited to present on emerging trends in IoT.
To spread awareness about various technologies to the students and ensure rural educational upliftment.
To attain interdisciplinary education across different streams (both government and private schools).
To enlighten the students about the newer technologies, which they will be facing in their near future.
To encourage the children to learn more and be sociable.
Features
Students gain valuable and marketable hands on learning experience with IoT Technologies and applications.
Students can have opportunity to create new and innovative applications.
Students can have opportunity to interact with industry experts to sharpen the knowledge.
Students gain valuable research work with leading IoT hardware and software development tools, protocols & framework for different research problems.
Aftermath & Achievement
One of the participated school (SRGDS School on 13/01/2020), has got inspired by our initiative and planned to build a robotics laboratory in their school. The students who took part in this workshop, had presented their project on MICROBIT during an event.
We feel surreal, that this small initiative can have such a huge impact on rural educational upliftment. We are proud and happy for those children.
Provisions
TRAINER – The school students are batched into small groups, which of each is led by a Trainer (College Student).
MICROBIT – Each batch is provided with a MICROBIT device and students are given a chance to perform any experiments with them.
CERTIFICATION – All the participated students receive their certificates as a piece of appreciation and encouragement.
LABORATORY – The students are accommodated in the laboratory for the whole period, until the workshop.
TRANSPORT – The school students are transported from their schools and to the college via the college buses.
FOOD – The students are provided with special food, who are involved in this workshop.
SNACKS – The students are provided with snacks and beverages, both in morning and afternoon.
Outcomes
The IoT allows the students to investigate a variety of emerging devices and technologies used in IoT applications.
This CoE is used as a platform for developing various research projects on IoT based applications.
It provide students unique interdisciplinary learning and innovation experiences with IoT technologies.
